The long wait is over, because we got a bunch of Malabrigo’s stunning Arroyo this week! Arroyo is a fabulous yarn, smack-dab between Rios and Sock. The same twist, the same softness, many of the same colors, in a sport-to-DK-weight yarn. Yummm…

Arroyo is a great choice for lots of different projects — colorwork, baby and child’s garments, and clothing and accessories that will be well worn and loved. You can be confident that this yarn will show off stitches, cables and still pop out of your washer and dryer vibrant and gorgeous!

Blissful Knits

We’re pretty excited to be working with a new-to-us Indie Dyer, Blissful Knits and Dyeworks. Right now, we have one of her bases, Inspire, which is an 80/20 Merino/Nylon Blend. Her colors are fantastic, this base is superduper soft, and we are falling head-over-heels for Raya and what she does to yarn.

Inspire Sock by Blissful Knits is $20 a skein. We don’t have her colors listed on our website, so coming into the shop is really your best bet, but if you’d like to order some on our website, click on over and let us know what color familes you are interested in.

All of Blissful Knits and Dyeworks yarns are hand dyed in Raya’s small fiber arts studio right here in Portland. She employs different painting and dyeing techniques and loves to experiment with color. Raya specializes in fine and luxury yarns and makes every attempt to locate US based fiber suppliers.

Ushya = soft

We’ve got a new yarn this Fall that we have fallen head-over-heels for: Mirasol’s Ushya. It’s this fantastically fat, soft, lofty, light fiber that is squishy and warm and just plain lovely. It’s a blend of 98% Merino Wool and 2% Nylon, and instead of being plied, it’s cabled, which allows it to be light as air. Ushya‘s gauge is 2-2.5 stitches per inch, and for $18, you get a whopping 114 yards (100 grams).

I’ve also designed a super-quick and easy cowl to use just one skein of this – the perfect last-minute gift this holiday season, and the pattern is free with purchase of the yarn. It’s called the Springy Sproingy Cowl, and it really really is.

DK Lively

With the same tight twist our Artisan Sock yarn is known for, Lively is a heavier weight with a noticeable sproingyness. 90% superwash merino and 10% nylon. This yarn can be used for any project calling for a heavy DK or light worsted weight yarn. And since it is superwash, it's perfect for quick baby knits!

Entice MCN

Entice is Hazel Knits newest base yarn, a luxurious blend of 70% merino, 20% cashmere and 10% nylon with Hazel Knits signature tight twist. Even softer than Artisan Sock, but has the same beautiful stitch definition and durability, Entice is perfect for next-to-the-face knits or those extra special socks.

Piquant Lite

With NINE tightly twisted plies, this fingering weight yarn has incredible stitch definition and durability. The 10% added nylon makes this an excellent choice for socks.

Plucky Knitter

One of our favorite things about Sock Summit is finding new friends. In this case, we found a new friend who is also a talented dyer – Sarah from The Plucky Knitter!

Everyone who went to Sock Summit knows that name already, of course, as she was the talk of the Convention Center. We fell in love with both Sarah and her yarn.

And since she lives in Michigan and was for some reason reluctant to move here just to be our new best friend, we’ll have to settle for just making her yarn part of the Twisted family!
