How did we arrive at the 4 final names? We asked for submissions a few weeks ago, the Twistedistas voted on their favorites, we listed the top 4, and here we are. Now, the final decision is up to you all!

1. Wow me with Yarn – Feel free to use an existing pattern and color outside the lines. Make it your own, but feel liberated from the need to write a formal pattern and instructions. You can even create your own unique unrepeatable design. This is the category for anyone who wants to knit but feels intimidated by the need to document their work with a formal pattern.

2. Original Design – Write your own pattern, design your unique shawl. In this category we are looking for designs with patterns. This is the place to share your creative nature with many others, allowing them to duplicate your shawl and share the shawl love with countless others.

3. Fresh Eyes – Artisans 14 years and younger. Welcome to the next generation of knitters, crocheters, weavers, give us a glimpse of the future. Your designs can be original with a pattern, or utilize an existing pattern as a base.

4. Professional – If you are paid to knit, crochet, weave etc, teach classes in these skills, or sell yarn, you are a professional for the purposes of this contest. This is your category and your skills and creativity are eagerly anticipated. Your designs can be original with a pattern, or utilize an existing pattern as a base.

We’re excited to announce that we are a part of the KnitALong! The yarn for January, an insanely lovely and bright teal Trekking XXL, has arrived here, and we have a limited number of skeins available, so if you’d like to be a part of this exciting KAL and contest, get on it!!!

Knit Along Overview:
* Each month will feature a one skein project.
* Each project will feature one specific color of Zitron Trekking.
° To qualify for the contest, the contestant must knit with a Zitron Trekking. yarn.
° Additional chances to win prizes will be given to those who knit the project in the featured color from the Supply List.
* Instructions for the projects will be posted on the Knit Purl Hunter website.
* Instructions for each month will be posted in four segments, with each segment revealing the next step.
° The first segment of each month will be posted on the 1st of the month.
° The second, third and fourth segments will be posted on the 8th, 15th and 22nd of that month respectively.
* Each project will feature a different technique.
° Video Clips on these techniques will be posted on the Knit Purl Hunter website.
* Once posted, all instructions will remain on the website through July 15th, 2011.

Contest Overview:
* The Grand Prize: One lucky knitter will receive an all-expense paid weekend getaway for two to Seattle, Washington and the skacel warehouse, where they will be given one $1,000 shopping spree in yarn and needles of their choice.
° Included is: roundtrip coach airfare for two to Seattle from any major city in North America, hotel accommodations (one double room), all transportation and meals.
° Travel must be completed by November 1st, 2011.
° Date of trip will be mutually determined by skacel collection, Inc. and winner.
* The Not-So-Grand but none-the-less Great Prize: There will be five contestants who will receive a year’s worth of Zitron Trekking!
° They will be sent one skein of Zitron Trekking per month beginning on August 1st 2011 and ending July 1st, 2012.
° Colors will be chosen by skacel collection, Inc.
* Monthly Prizes: There will be at least 7 winners each month!

On Saturday, October 16, 2010, ten of today’s hottest hand-dyers will debut unique, limited-edition colorways designed for knitters who know their obsession is not just a craft, but an art. Yarns on Stage has partnered with select yarn shops, including TWISTED!! across the U.S., Canada, France and the U.K. for this one-day release. We will have, just for you, a party to celebrate the awesomeness of Yarns on Stage, AND we’ll have the sock samples, AND we’ll be giving away a cute little black sheep named Sidney.

We’re now taking PREORDERS for this yarn!

As an added bonus (or two), Debby and Stevanie from Pico Accuardi Dyeworks, which is headquartered right here in lovely Portland, Oregon, will be on-hand for shmoozing and chatting from 10am – 1pm. We’ll have some snackies and juice, too. We carry Pico Accuardi‘s gorgeous sock yarn right here in the shop, and love everything about them. They dye using natural dyes AND acid dyes, which lends a lovely depth to their colorways.

AND, we are fortunate enough to have gotten our hands on all of the sock samples for Yarns on Stage, so make sure you spend some time checking them out, too.
