Cuff-Down Socks

Toe-up is great, and all, but sometimes you just want to make a sock the good old-fashioned way, darnubbit! With a nice traditional gusset heel and a grafted toe! Know what I mean? Or maybe you just want to learn this nifty “two circular needles” trick so you can stop dropping DPNs down the couch cushions. Either way, we gotcher class right here!

Socks: Cuff-down with a Gusset Heel on Two Circular Needles

The traditional top-down, gusset method using two circular needles so you’ll never lose a DPN again.
Date/Time: Sundays, Jan 8, 15, and 22; 12-2pm
Materials: 275-300 yards of Sport Weight yarn, 2 sets of 24” US 3 (3.35 mm) needles.
Includes: Knitting Pure and Simple #242 sock pattern.
Skills learned: Knitting in the round, heel flap and gusset techniques, kitchener stitch.

  1. I hope that there are enough students to hold this class. I have two socks knitted from the cuff to the “shape the gusset” point, and I need help to continue.

    Assuming the class meets, I will miss the first session because I will be out of town, but, as I mentioned, I am at the gusset point, and I imagine you won’t get there in session 1.
