Heart to Heart Beaded Scarf

This crescent shaped lace scarf with its heart lace border is as sweet as pie! The scarf consists of a whimsical beaded heart border, a wide and shallow garter stitch center, and a tubular edge and is worked side to side. It is divine in a lace weight cashmere like our Jojoland Cashmere. Yum!

The pattern is $6, or if you might need a hand with the lace and beads, we have a class, too! Tuesdays, March 23, 30 6:00-8:00pm. It’s taught by the designer (and Twistedista), Sivia Harding and is $40.

I love this scarf, and covet it every time I see it in the shop. I’ll eventually buy the pattern, but there are too many things in the queue right now, so I’m restraining myself!

I have started this scarf around 10 times I can never get past Row 5 of the start up row. Row 4 you have # of stitches—

    8 marker 3 marker 3

Then when you get to Row 5 you should end with 8 stitches, but what you get is 2 more stitches that I don’t know what to do with.

If I have 8 stitches then I need to K4, yo 2, K1B, K1, that gives you 6 stitches plus the 2 yo’s but what do I do with the last 2 stitches?

This pattern is driving me nuts. Was there a correction page some place?

    Thanks for the help,

    Jean

    Hi Jean,

You start with 10 stitches, which are divided into 3 for the tubular edge, 3 for the garter stitch section, and 4 for the lace border section. On Row 3, you increase with 2 yarn overs in the lace section, which gives you 3 edge stitches, 3 garter stitches, and 6 lace stitches. On Row 5, you increase again the same way, resulting in 8 sts in the lace section. I don’t know exactly why you are ending up with more than 8 sts, but if you would like to email me at siviaharding@clear.net, we can discuss and figure out a solution.

    Sivia
