Lanaloft

We are pleased to be working with a brand-new-to-us company, Brown Sheep! You have all heard of Lamb’s Pride, we are sure, and it’s a great yarn. But Brown Sheep has many, many other lines that you may not be so familiar with, and it is some of those that Twisted will be carrying, starting with Burly Spun and Lanaloft.

Brown Sheep is made in the USA, from the wool of good ole’ American sheep. Lanaloft is a 100% wool yarn, in 3 fabulous weights – Bulky, Worsted, and Sport. Colorwork, anyone? It’s great for felting, for knitting inexpensive sweaters, hats, mitts, scarves, really anything. The color palette is awesome, including a wide range of heathers. In short, we are kinda head-over-heels with this yarn. Burly Spun is HUGE, folks, just ginormous. It knits up at 2.5 stitches per inch, and comes in these big ole “reeled skeins” (much like the Lanaloft Bulky). They are so appealing to me, these big huge skeins, and may push me into doing more bulky-gauge knitting.

We can also special order anything that Brown Sheep carries, so if you do need some Lamb’s Pride, just let us know. The company has been awesome to deal with so far, and we are looking forward to a long and fiber-y relationship with them.

Lanaloft is awesome to work with EXCEPT felting. The cream does not felt at all, i’ve heard white won’t but when I asked if the cream would at my lys, she said it would. Cascade 220 does a much nicer job of felting.
