Kapok. A blend in yarn, not a science-fiction creature.

So, you know how there are all of these fabulous yarn-blends out there, from bamboo, to soy, to flax, to hemp? Well, now there is also Kapok, which sounds like something that’s either man-made, futuristic, or straight outta Dr. Who, but is actually a plant-fiber.

This is the Kapok tree. Beautiful, no?

And, this is what the Kapok seeds and fibers look like.

I’ve just discovered you have a website! wheeeee! okay, lets overlook I’m late to the party, and celebrate the fact I’ve shown up.
I’ve made teddy bears for nearly 20 years, and even stuffed them with Kapok. Didn’t know it’s been made into yarn, but what a lovely discovery! Isn’t the world of yarn amazing and wonderful?

I should add that Kapok was long a standard stuffing material for your grandparents upholstered furniture.
