Malabrigo!!!
Posted by Emily in yarnThat’s right, we have more Malabrigo! We got an order of worsted, chunky, silky merino and lace yesterday. It has prompted a bad case of the wanties in pretty much everyone who has seen the new order. (The “wanties” are in some ways the cure for and the opposite of “TWS,” described yesterday…)

Five skeins of the Velvet Grapes worsted actually jumped out of the box and into my bag all by themselves. Tricky little buggers!
We also received the Vogue Knitting Fall issue, which is a very hot item thanks to Jared Flood’s Green Autumn mitten pattern (on cover).

Your RDA of Twisted
Posted by Emily in the shopA new report from the Surgeon General recommends at least one serving of Twisted per day. If you do not get this recommended daily allowance, possible side effects can include: restlessness, itchy hands, frowning, and spontaneous combustion. (Although the latter is unconfirmed.)
To help ward off Twisted Withdrawl Syndrome (TWS) we have three more Twisted brand items to keep you company on those days you can’t make it by to see us in person. They are:
100% cotton canvas classic tote bags, great as a project bag, groceries, gifts, etc. $20.
100% cotton canvas side pocket bags, which have gathered handles and two zip pockets on each side! $20.
100% organic cotton baby onesies ranging from 3 months to 24 months. For our youngest yarn lovers. $20.

Watch out, it’s Leethal!
Posted by Shannon in the shopYou all know who Lee Meredith is, right? Leethal? If you don’t know, go on over to her website and check it out. We’ll wait. It’s worth it, because this girl is TALENTED. Anyone who uses the word “Superawesome” gets mega-cool points in our Twisted book. She’s also local, and she teaches here, and she’s super sweet.
Are you back? Did you enjoy poking around on her website? Are you in love with what she creates? We are, too, which is why we are now carrying her (super)awesome old-school knitting needle jewelry and stitch markers made from all recycled goods.

Belated contest winner
Posted by Emily in contestsWell, what with the sale and all June and July just got away from us. Better late than never, though.
The June contest was, in brief, to figure out something creative to do with all our rubber bands. Congratulations to our friend (and new mom) Lorajean!
She suggests that, “You can tie rubber bands together, hook it to a breast pump, hook it to your bra and pump hands free. Pretty nifty huh?” We’ll take your word on that! This was by far the most creative entry, although we’re not sure if it would really work and for legal reasons don’t want to encourage the beta testing. For her idea, LJ gets a lifetime supply of rubber bands (the perfect toy for a baby who puts everything in its mouth, right?) and The Little Box of Knitted Gifts by Sandy Scoville, published by Martingale.
Obviously, we’re a bit far through July for a contest, so we’ll get back to you in August for a new one. Thanks to all who entered!

Silk Garden Sock Yarn
Posted by Shannon in the shop, yarn, socks, knittingHow stoked are we? An entire box of the newest of the new in Noro-land, Silk Garden Sock Yarn, is now living happily at Twisted. Don’t you worry, we’ll definitely share, and there’s enough to go around.
It’s stunningly beautiful. Not just for socks, either - this stuff would make a wonderful shawl, or sweater, or hat, or cowl, or…the possibilities are endless, knitters and crocheters. I can just see a Pi Shawl in this (you do know that we have a Pi Shawl here, knitted by the talented and humble Michelle, out of the Noro Kureyon Sock, right?) We have a half-finished Silk Garden Sock in the shop, so if you want to fondle this stuff knitted up, you are more than welcome to.

We have all eight colors, and lots of each.

The photos don’t do this stuff justice, everyone. It’s insanely gorgeous, much like all of Eisaku Noro’s creations. Love that man!

Flower Pie Needlecases
Posted by Emily in bagsWe have a new local designer to add to our team - Flower Pie. Ms. Flower Pie makes the most gorgeous, funky, functional needle cases you’ve ever imagined. They. Are. So. Cool.!!!

There are large cases to accomodate all your straight and DP needles and notions ($30), as well as smaller cases for DPNs or crochet hooks ($20). AND, coming soon will be her new much-lusted-after circular needle cases!

Each case is handmade and fully lined with several coordinating cotton fabrics. There’s a fleece interlining to give it just a little body, plus a top flap to keep everything in its place. Then you fold it up and tie it and voila - everything is uber organized and portable. The cases even come protected with Scotchguard for us clumsy types!
It’s surprisingly hard to find a needle case that is attractive and functional and reasonably priced… but no more! We are incredibly excited to have Flower Pie in the shop, and can’t wait to have you come check them out.
