Happy Birthday Twisted
Posted by Emily in the shop, saleToday is Twisted’s first birthday!

This past year has been so wonderful, and for that we have you, our customers, to thank.
So, thank you for your support, for your business, for your friendship. Thank you for referring your friends to us, for spreading the word in person and on the internet. Thank you for your hugs, your suggestions, and your encouragement. We really couldn’t have done this without you!
To celebrate, we’re having a big anniversary sale starting Tuesday. Hope to see you there!
Edited by shannon to add: today is Emily’s bday, too! Not her first, or even her twenty-first, but it is her birthday nonetheless, and we want her to have the bestest birthday ever! She won’t be in the shop today - she’s taking her birthday off, but next week is Emily’s Birthday Week, too, so make sure you give her a shout-out when you come by for the sale!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMILY!!!

Funky sock monkey
Posted by Emily in patterns, knittingBlue Moon Fiber Arts‘ Funky Sock Monkey pattern is hot, ladies and gents. We just got in more copies, after selling out for the second time, and are now ready once again to enable your sock monkey fever.

These little guys are a great way to use up your left over sock yarn. Plus they make everyone smile. We are absolutely certain of this, thanks to Kaaren, who has loaned us her lovely and talented monkey Bob Orcas. He’s hanging out at the store in his scale model Adirondack chair just waiting to steal your heart.

Square needles
Posted by Emily in knittingTwisted is now carrying Kollage’s square knitting needles. Why square?

Well, we’re told that they really are easier on your hands than normal round needles. Handcrafted to exacting standards, Kollàge’s square knitting needles are designed to be ergonomically suited to your hands, decreasing stress and strain. In particular, the square needles are supposed to be easier to use by those who have arthritis, carpal tunnel, or stiffness in their hands and fingers.
Kollage also claims that square needles enable you to knit faster with more uniform stitches. We were skeptical on that count and started a little test swatch going in the shop. At least half a dozen people have knit a row on that swatch and, we were surprised to see, the gauge is completely even. Go figure.

We are excited to see how our customers like knitting with the square needles, so please stop by and give our sample set a try. If nothing else, it’s interesting (and not as totally bizarre as you’d imagine). Plus they’re beautiful - handmade in Vietnam from a hardwood called Forest Palm. We look forward to getting the square crochet hooks and DPNs in the future!
